Artifex is an ancient Latin word that means "artist" or
"artistic". We chose it as our name because our studio combines
fine art, serenity, ancient traditions, and modern techniques.
We are the region's only all-custom tattoo studio. When you get
tattooed at Artifex, you leave with a piece of art,
not just a tattoo. We put your safety first in all
procedures we do. We go above and beyond basic standards when it
comes to sanitation and sterilization procedures. Rest assured that when you come to Artifex,
you are entrusting your body and your health to professionals
who have your best interests in mind.
We offer an atmosphere unlike that
of any other tattoo studio.

Studio Policies
Tattoo
Deposits:
1. All tattoo deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE.
2. If you do not show up for your
appointment, you forfeit your deposit and you will have to pay
in full to schedule a new appointment.
3. If you do not show up for your appointment a
second time, you will forfeit your payment in full and will not
be permitted to schedule any further appointments.
4. If you need to reschedule an appointment, we
require two business days' notice or you will forfeit your
deposit. Additionally, you will have to pay in full for a new
appointment.
5. If you provide at least two business days'
notice to reschedule, we will transfer your deposit to your new
appointment.
6. If you choose not to reschedule your
appointment when you cancel, we will hold on to your deposit for
two months. If you do not schedule a new appointment within two
months of cancellation, you will forfeit your deposit.
7. Deposits cannot be transferred for use by
another person.
8. If you use a gift certificate for a deposit
and do not provide proper notice to reschedule or do not show up
for your appointment, your gift certificate will be void.
9. In case of inclement weather, call to let us
know that you cannot make your appointment. As long as you
notify us prior to your appointment time, we will transfer your
deposit to a new appointment date, if made within two month of
cancellation.
10. If you arrive for your appointment without
proper identification or accompanied by a person under the age
of 14, you will not be tattooed. You will forfeit your deposit
and be required to pay in full before a new appointment can be
scheduled.
11. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, your
appointment may need to be rescheduled so the artist will not be
running late for the appointments after yours. If your
appointment has to be rescheduled due to your late arrival, you
will forfeit your deposit and be required to pay in full before
scheduling a new appointment.
Touch Ups:
1. Touch up
appointments do not require a deposit and are free unless the
tattoo was damaged by your negligence, such as sun exposure or
ignoring proper aftercare.
2. If you do not show up for a touch up
appointment, you will be required to pay $50 to schedule a new
appointment for a touch up.
3. If you do not show up a second time, you will
forfeit the $50 payment and will not be permitted to schedule
any further appointments.
3. Touch ups are only free by the
artist who originally did your tattoo. If the artist who did
your original tattoo at Artifex is no longer here, Chip may
touch up your tattoo for free at his discretion. However, if the
touch up work needed would take more than a few minutes of time,
you could be charged. You will be informed whether or not the
touch up is free prior to scheduling your appointment.
Recoloring old tattoos done elsewhere is NOT a touch up.
Gift Certificates:
1. Gift certificates cannot be redeemed for cash
value.
2. Gift certificates cannot be transferred for
use by other persons.
3. Gift certificates may only be used for the
service specified on the card. For example, a gift certificate
for massage therapy services cannot be used for tattooing.
4. In the event that a party working at
Artifex leaves the business, gift certificates for services by
that party cannot be honored by Artifex.
5. Gift certificates are valid for six
months after purchase.
6. In the event that you do not use the entire
value of a tattoo gift certificate, the remaining value can be
used for future services by the issuing party. You will have a
six month period after the initial use of the gift certificate
to redeem the remaining value.
7. Massage therapy gift certificates cannot be
split and applied to shorter sessions. For example, a gift
certificate for a one hour massage cannot be used for two half
hour massages.
Age and
Identification Policies:
1.
It is New York State law that you must be 18 years old to get
tattooed.
2. No one under the age of 14 is
allowed in the studio under any circumstances. If you come in
for a tattoo with a child under 14, you will have to come back
another time. Additionally, you will lose your tattoo deposit
money.
4. You must bring state or federal
photo ID
every time you come in for any tattoo. If you
arrive for a tattoo appointment without proper ID, you will not
get tattooed and you will lose your deposit money. Acceptable
forms of ID include: driver's license, state issued non-driver
ID card, military ID, passport, or learner's permit (if it has a
photo on it).
Miscellaneous
Information:
1.
Artifex accepts all major credit/debit cards and cash. WE DO NOT
ACCEPT CHECKS!.
2. Tattoo price quotes are only
estimates. We do our best to stick to the quotes we give, but
sometimes, a tattoo can take longer than anticipated for a
variety of reasons. In some cases, a tattoo can be finished more
quickly than expected. You may wind up paying more or less than
what you are quoted. Please come prepared with extra money in
case your tattoo takes longer than expected.
3. We cannot give tattoo prices over
the phone. The nature of custom tattoo work makes it impossible
to set a price without discussion between you and your artist.
If you are looking for cheap work, then Artifex is not the
studio for you. If you are looking to get high quality work in a
safe and hygienic environment, please come in to the studio and
we would be happy to discuss prices with you.
4. When you schedule a tattoo appointment, a
deposit of $50 per hour of scheduled time is required. You must
pay the deposit no later than two weeks before your appointment
date. If you fail to pay your deposit on time, your appointment
will be cancelled. You can pay in person, or we can process
credit card payment over the phone.
5. We cannot schedule tattoo appointments via
email. You must call or stop in the studio to make an
appointment.
