Chainmail Jewelry
|
The art of weaving metal rings into
chainmail is most often associated with the armor worn in the Middle
Ages. However, the practice of making chainmail is far older. It has
roots in both European and Asian culture. Although chainmail armor was
replaced by more the more effective plate mail armor, it is still used
today for decorative purposes. Chainmail techniques are the basis for
many styles of linked jewelry that are still popular today, such as the
rolo link and byzantine chain. |
